Stage 10 is the first of two individual time trials in edition 100 of the Giro d’Italia. The riders leave from Foligno, where André Greipel took the 7th stage in last year’s Giro.
The ITT commences with a flat 9.8 kilometres section leading to the first intermediate time check in Bevagna. Legend has it, Franciscus van Assisi has been preaching to the birds here.
At kilometre 12.7 the route starts to climb for 5.2 kilometres at an average gradient of 3.1% to Madonna delle Grazie. The route rolls on to San Marco before a gentle descent runs to the second intermediate time check in Bastardo (at kilometre 28.2).
A false flat of almost 5 kilometres, a short descent, before the last 5.7 kilometres takes the riders home to Montafalco at an average gradient of approximately 2%.
