Race report
Team Colombia is the first to start and obviously the first to finish in 26’05″. GreenEdge is the second team to start and in 24’42″ the winner of the day. Birthday boy Svein Tuft (37) crossed the line first and starts in the pink jersey tomorrow.
Katusha (Rodríguez) comes in at 26’15″ and Movistar (Quintana) 25’37″, giving the Colombian climber a 0’38” gain over his Spanish opponent.
But BMC (Cadel Evans) and Omega Pharma (Rigoberto Uran) are up for even better performances, with respectively 24’49″ and 24’47″.
Bad luck for Garmin Sharp, crashing on a seemingly safe section in the route. Leader Daniel Martin is one of the victims and the Irishman has to abandon before even arriving in his homeland.
