The route is going either up or down for most of the day, but the slopes are not steep at all. Two climbs stand out. The Alto de Hijas – 4.2 kilometres at 6.5% – and the Alto de San Cipriano – 5.5 kilometres at 4,4% – are crested within 20 kilometres and after the latter there are 50 kilometres remaining.
Since the finale is pan flat a bunch sprint is the most likely outcome in Santa Cruz de Bezana.
