Tour de France 2016 Favourites stage 10: For escapees

At the first day after the rest day, stage 10 in the Tour de France leads in almost 200 kilometer to Revel. The race opens with a long climb to the highest point of La Grande Boucle. We can expect a big fight to be in the break as it's likely the break will hold on till the end. A short climb with 7 kilometres left is probably going to decide on the stage win. We are halfway the Tour de France and the stage is tailor made for escapees. The teams of the GC men probably won’t mind, as they don’t have anything to gain, and the sprinter’s teams don’t have anything to protect. A big climb once the flag is dropped and a short climb in the finale – no, that’s not the stuff sprinter’s dreams are made of.

The last climb – 1.8 kilometres at 6.6% – is crested with 7 kilometres left. That’s the perfect spot to launch an attack in the front group. At the top the undulating road goes on for 1 kilometres before a 3 kilometres drop takes the riders to a flat closing section at 3 kilometres.
