Race report
It’s a hard battle to make the break, but eventually Magdeleine Vallieres, Jeanne Korevaar, Quinty Tona and Flora Perkins succeed. The four edge away after 33 kilometres to open up a gap of 1.40 minutes.
It’s all back together again on the Côte de Haute-Levée, while a new group gives it a go on the Col du Rosier. Marlen Reusser, Sara Martin, Leah Thomas, Soraya Paladin, Evita Muzic, Amanda Spratt, Leah Kirchmann and Clara Honsinger put 1.30 minutes into the peloton.
Annemiek van Vleuten overhauls the leaders on La Redoute. Reusser sticks to her wheel, the other riders can’t follow. A regroupment takes place on the Sprimont climb before Grace Brown attacks.
Brown enters the Côte de la Roche aux Faucon 20 seconds ahead of the chase group, but Van Vleuten overhauls her on the climb. She reaches the summit 12 seconds ahead of Vollering, Longo Borghini, Cavalli, Moolman, and Brown.
The Dutch star extends her lead gradually and wins Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes for the second time in her career before Brown bests Vollering in the sprint for second place.
