During the climb of the Col de l’Ospedale the pace was set by AG2R and the first group got smaller and smaller. GC leader Tom Dumoulin dropped with 5 kilomtres to go.
At 2 kilometres before the finish line only a small group of riders were left, i.e. Frank Schleck and Rafal Majka. The older Schleck brother attacked several times. But could not get away. It was Mathias Frank from Switzerland who was the strongest at the end.
