Sunday, the 15th of April 2018 will see 2nd edition of the Amstel Gold Race for women 2.0. The last edition of the first incarnation was held in 2003 with Nicole Cook taking the flowers. The current race director, Leontien van Moorsel, soloed to victory in 2002. Following the start in Maastricht the peloton of the 2018 edition travels through the hills of the southernmost part of the Netherlands. In 2017, the race amounted to 121.6 kilometres, while the finish was 1.6 kilometres after cresting the punchy Cauberg. (Slideshow route/profile)
Home-rider Anna van der Breggen is title holder. The Olympic Champion soloed to victory, while her team mate Elizabeth Deignan sprinted to second place ahead of Kasia Niewiadoma.
