World Cycling Championships 2016 Doha, Qatar: Route TTT

World Cycling Championships Cycling Qatar ITT Sunday, 9 October 2016 - For the fifth time in a row the World Cycling Championships feature a team time trial for trade teams. At 40 kilometres, both men and women race exactly the same route. BMC (men) and Canyon-SRAM (women) are title holders.

The route is an exact copy of the ITT for men. This means the start is near the Losail International Circuit. The teams don't race the circuit itself, yet the roads are part of the complex. Long straights and fourteen sharp turns set the tone of the TTT at the Worlds in Doha.

A straight road through the desert leads to The Pearl-Qatar, the artificial island in Doha that's home to all finales of the World Cycling Championships.

For years the TTT at the Worlds was raced for nations, yet the competetion was re-introduced for trade team in 2012. Since then Canyon-SRAM did win all women's editions, while Etixx-QuickStep took the first two editions for men and BMC was victorious in last two editions.

The first team in the women's race leaves at 10:30 and the finish of the last team is expected at around 11:50. The men's race starts at 14:30 and is expected to finish at around 16:40. All these times are local times.
