Vuelta 2015 Route stage 4: Estepona – Vejer de la Frontera

Vuelta 2015 stage 4Tuesday, August 25, 2015 – Stage 4 is a 209.6 kilometres ride between Estepona and Vejer de la Frontera. No special climbing-skills required, except for the finale with a nasty hill and an slightly uphill final 500 meters.

After three stages in the province of Malaga, the riders penetrate the neighboring province of Cadiz. It’s a race through the arid landscapes of southern Spanish and good chance it will be hot. No shelter of relative coolness in the mountains since the highest point along the way is Alcalá de los Gazules, at an elevation of 170 metres.

Alcalá de los Gazules is not the highest point today, that is the finish in Vejer de la Frontera. The fourth kilometre before the finish takes the riders from sea-level to an elevation of around 150 metres, so that’s a steep monster at over 12%. The road rolls on until the final kilometre is half downhill and half uphill, with the last section at 6%. Interesting finale!
