The race starts with an unclassified climb and its descent leads to the Olaberria, which is a 1.6 kilometres ramp with an average gradient of 7.5%. A short drop and the riders tackle the steady Lizarrusti. The 6.4 kilometres climb has an average gradient of 4.7% and the summit is crested inside the first 50 kilometres.
That’s it as far KOM climbs are concerned. On rolling roads the ‘Itzulia Basque Country’ travels to the line in Gorraiz, where the organisation pulls an interesting finish out of the hat. Following 1 kilometre of false flat the last 600 metres climb at 8.1%.
Also, the riders face a total of 4.8 kilometres on unpaved roads inside the last 50 kilometres.
