Race report
Gilles De Wilde, Lluis Mas, Daniel Oss and Taco van der Hoorn ride away from the field on the first climb, Tiegemberg. Guillaume Van Keirsbulck and Matthew Gibson bridge across and the six carve out a 7 minutes lead.
Jumbo-Visma accelerates on Le Bourliquet, with 85 kilometres to go, and the attackers are reeled in.
Wellens opens a gap on Mont Saint-Laurent before Mohoric, Benoot and Van der Hoorn rejoin him after the top, while Van Hooydonck bridges across later. The five leave the hilly zone 1.35 minutes ahead of the main group.
Wellens, Mohoric, Benoot, Van Hooydonck and Van der Hoorn enter the finishing lap with a 1 minute lead. The gap remains stable in the last 12.8 kilometres of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne.
Benoot opens a series of attacks and counter attacks before he rides away just after the flamme rouge. The former Strade Bianche winner stays ahead and wins the race, while his team mate Van Hooydock bests Mohoric in the sprint for second place.
