Tour de Pologne 2015 Route stage 2: Częstochowa - Dąbrowa Górnicza
Monday, August 3, 2015 – Just like the opening stage, stage 2 in the Tour de Pologne is not too long - 146 kilometres, mostly flat.
Częstochowa is an industrial city which doubles as a pilgrimage. For the Catholic Poles the place is just like Lourdes due to the presence of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa. According to legend, the icon was painted by Luke the Evangelist on a table top from the house of the Holy Family.
After the start, the riders head south on a rolling landscape. Once on the final circuit of 10 kilometres all slopes are gone and with five rounds done a bunch sprint is the most likely outcome.
Edition 2014 saw 22-year old Petr Vakoč solo to victory. He took the leader’s jersey, which he held until the last mountain stage.
Arrival place Dąbrowa Górnicza is not far from Katowice, in the south of Poland.
