The 35th edition of the Giro d’Italia Women – previously Giro Donne, Giro Rosa before that – starts on Sunday 7 July to finish on Sunday the 14th. First held in 1988, it used to be the most important road race for women for years, but it faded away due to a lack of professionalism. It even sank to second level ProSeries, but it bounced back and the 2022 event was back in the top series. This July showdown the race aims high with a brutal last weekend. Saturday’s Queen Stage to Blockhaus is expected to be crucial, while the last stage is a tough task as well.
The now retired Annemiek van Vleuten won last year’s edition ahead of Juliette Labous and Gaia Realini.
Fabiana Luberini is record holder with five GC wins.
