Tirreno-Adriatico 2014 Route stage 2: San Vincenzo - Cascina

Tirreno Adriatico stage 2March 13th, 166 kilometres greet the riders from San Vincenzo to Cascina. Two early climbs to warm up, but apart from that it's pancake flat and the sprinters teams will look to control the race. (Slideshow route/profile)

Riders begin stage 2 by taking yesterday’s TTT route in reverse. They pass Donoratico and after a swing inland the route goes north towards Pisa. No chance for a peloton/leaning tower photoshoot unfortunately as riders go east before entering Pisa to the finish in Cascina.

There are some modest climbs along the road, like those to Montecatini Val di Cecina (415 meter) and Podere Vitalba (506 meter), but these are all early in the stage with the last 60 kilometres totally flat.

The stage finishes with 2 rounds of a 10 kilometre circuit in Cascina. Expect the breakaway to be gobbled up before the circuit begins with a sprint finish the most likely outcome.

The stage begins at 12:05 (CET) and the finish is expected around 16:00.
