Giro d’Italia 2016 Route stage 17: Molveno - Cassano d’Adda

Giro 2016 stage 17Wednesday, May 25, 2016 – In theory, stage 17 of the 2016 Giro d'Italia should be a quiet day for the GC guys. At 196 kilometres, the course leads from Molveno to Cassano d’Adda. Sprinters, on your marks... ready... set... go!

After leaving Molveno a rider who didnt take a look in the road book might be wondering if he is heading for a mountain stage. But no worries. After around 95 kilometres in the saddle the Passo Sant’Eusebio is crested, the only KOM climb of the day.

After a passage in Brescia the hilly stretches are history and in 90 kilometres the riders race to Cassano d’Adda. By the way, the Lombardian town of Brescia was the final stop of the 2016 Giro d’Italia with Vincenzo Nibali taking the GC, while Mark Cavendish sprinted to the stage win.

A bunch sprint is the most likely outcome in Cassano d’Adda. At the line, time bonuses at 10, 6 and 4 seconds lay waiting, while intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds each.
