Critérium du Dauphiné 2016

The 68th edition of the Critérium du Dauphiné was won by Chris Froome. After taking control in stage 5, his overall victory was not endangered, despite several attacks by Albert Contador. Romain Bardet finished the Dauphine in second and Daniel Martin in third.

The last stage of the 2016 Critérium du Dauphiné features six climbs. The final 50 kilometres are marked by two 1st categorie ascents, and it's there Stephen Cummings attacks from the front group to solo to victory. Dan Martin finishes in second and Romain Bardet in third, while they occupy the same places in reverse in the overall. Chris Froome takes the GC for the second year in a row.Read more »
Pinot wins Queen Stage, Froome cements overall lead
The Queen Stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné features five climbs. The infamous Col de la Madeleine is one of them and it's there Contador puts pressure on leader Froome, but to no avail. Romain Bardet's attack just under the top bears more fruit, yet early escapee Pinot outsprints his compatriot at the end of the closig climb. Froome limits his losses and not only holds on to the leader's jersey, he puts time into both Porte and Contador.Read more »

Stage 4 of the Critérium du Dauphiné leads from Tain-l'Hermitage to Belley. On the slightly uphill arrival Edvald Boasson Hagen outsprints Julian Alaphilippe and Nacer Bouhanni. Aru outpowers peloton after brilliant descent, Contador retains in lead
At182 kilometres, stage 3 in the Critérium du Dauphiné traverses the Ardeche massif halfway, while a short steep climb with 15 kilometres remaining ushers in the finale. It's there Fabio Aru attacks to power to victory in a mindblowing descent, outperforming the sprinting peloton by 2 seconds.
