Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana 2018
Alejandro Valverde won edition 69 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, lifting his total of overall victories in the five-day stage race to three. He won the 2nd stage in a three-up sprint and the Queen Stage after a steep final haul with ramps of up to 17%. The 2018 Tour of Valencia took in two sprint stages, which were won by Danny van Poppel and Jürgen Roelandts, while the TTT was neutralized.

Valverde wins Queen Stage and cements overall lead
The Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana's Queen Stage travels over six intermediate climbs before the final haul up El Alto de las Canteras. The closing climb is 5 kilometres at 7.8%, while the last kilometre goes up at a brutal 12.3%. It's here Alejandro Valverde showcases his strength by rejoining attacker Adam Yates to power to victory, thus cementing his overall lead.Read more »
BMC wins neutralized TTT, Valverde still in overall lead
The TTT on the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana's third day of action amounts to 23.2 kilometres. The route is undulating and twisty and after considering the wet conditions and strong winds in the morning, TTT does not count for the GC. During the race it was dry though and BMC took the honours.Read more »
Valverde wins three-up sprint and takes overall lead
The route of the 2nd stage in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana travels over five climbs to a flat finish in Albuixech. At the last ascent, the Garbi, Valverde and Fuglsang attack, while León Sánchez rejoins them on descent. The trio work together well before Valverde wins the three-up sprint, taking the overall lead in doing so.Read more »
Van Poppel takes 1st stage and leader's jersey
Stage 1 in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is mostly played out on flat to rolling roads. The route takes in one climb that's crested with 100 kilometres remaining, yet the race boils down to a bunch sprint.
