Race report
Once the flag is dropped attacks are everywhere, yet it’s only when Maxime Bouet, Thomas De Gendt, Boris Dron and Kamil Gradek join forces the break of the day is gone. The quartet races to a maximum lead of 3 minutes with 27 kms done.
Dron, who was in yesterday’s break also, is the first to crest both the Can Bordoi (3rd category) and Alto de Els Angels (1st category), catapulting him into the KOM-lead.
With 28 kms left Thomas De Gendt is the last escapee at the front and after a 13 kilometres solo-effort he is reeled in.
After a strong lead-out by Geoffrey Soupe Nacer Bouhanni powers to his second win in Catalunya, besting Gieanni Meermsn and Philippe Gilbert.
