Tour of Valencia 2020 Route stage 3: Orihuela - Torrevieja

Friday 7 February -The 3rd stage of the Tour of Valencia runs from Orihuela to Torrevieja. The route amounts to 175 kilometres and the elevation gain is 826 metres, so this one should be for the sprinters.

Last year's Tour of Valencia kicked off with an ITT in Orihuela. Edvald Boasson Hagen powered to the first leader's jersey.

No ITT in the 2020 Volta a la Comunidad Valenciana and the riders take off for a race on undulating roads. The climb to Hondon de los Frailes, a village at an elevation of 487 metres, appears after 95 kilometers.

The Hondon de los Frailes climb is the toughest challenge in a race that is likely to see a sprint finish. Stage 1 was won by Dylan Groenewegen ahead of Fabio Jakobsen and Alexander Kristoff.

The Grande Partenza of last year's Vuelta a España took place in Torrevieja with Astana taking a surprise victory. Miguel Ángel López was the first rider to cross the line, so he grabbed the first red jersey.
