Tour of the Basque Country 2018 Route stage 4: ITT Lodosa

Tour of the Basque Country 2018 stage 4 Thursday, 5 April 2018 - The 4th stage at the Tour of the Basque Country is an individual time trial of 19.4 kilometres. The race is played out on the flat.

The Tour of the Basque Country is famous for its ITT's for climbers, but this year it's something else. The track from Lodosa to Lodosa is extremely flat - especially for Basque standards.

The riders roll down the start ramp close to the River Ebro. Following a few turns the route crosses the river to follow it upstream until a U-turn leads them back to Lodosa. Just before entering the town over the same bridge they crossed a few kilometres ago, the riders turns right and power on a straight to Sartaguda. A perfect section for the specialists who can push a big gear.

In Sartaguda the route crosses the Ebro and following a passage through the village a new straight section welcomes the specialists. One more sharp bend in Lodosa before we are home.

Last year, Primoz Roglic won the Tour of the Basque Country's ITT ahead of Alejandro Valverde and Ion Izagirre. But, as already mentioned, that was on a hilly route.
