Tour Down Under 2016
Edition 18 of the Tour Down Under was won by Simon Gerrans. After claiming stage 3 his overall victory was never in danger, despite an attack by Richie Porte in the Queen Stage up Willunga Hill. It was the fourth time in his career Gerrans won his home race. Piquant detail: all stages in the 2016 Tour Down Under were won by Australians.
Richie Porte and Sergio Henao completed the podium in Adelaide.

For the third year in a row Richie Porte manages to win the Queen stage in the Tour Down Under. He attacks at the foot of the closing climb up Willunga Hill and the only riders with a reaction are Sergio Henao and Michael Woods. However, the duo can not bridge the gap and the Tasmanian powers to the win. Leader Simon Gerrans is perfect in damage control and loses 17 seconds, meaning he still enjoys a 9 seconds margin ahead of tomorrow's criterium in Adelaide.Read more »
Gerrans cements GC-lead with back-to-back win in stage 4
After a technical finale in the streets of Victor Harbor Simon Gerrans claims his second stage win in a row, this time outsprinting Ben Swift and Giacomo Nizzolo. He also pickes up 1 bonus second at an intermediate sprint, so he now leads Jay McCarthy by 14 seconds and Rohan Dennis by 26 seconds.Read more »
