Tour de Romandie 2016 Route stage 3: ITT in Sion

Tour de Romandie stage 3 Friday, April 29, 2016 – Stage 3 in the Tour de Romandie is the second time trial in four days time. So it's obvious the Swiss cherish the concept of time. The distance of time trial 2 is 15.1 kilometres and the decor is Sion.

To be more precise: the distance of time trial 2 is 15.11 kilometres, while the race features 277 metres of climbing. Roughly, the ascent is crested halfway with steepest sectors at around 10%, but the climb is far from regular. The peak is crested 9 kilometres into the race.

Sion is at the junction of the rivers Rhône and Sionne. It's easy to find yourself in earlier centuries, as towering over the city are the Rock of Tourbillon, with a ruined castle from the 13rde century on top, and the Rock of Valeria, which is crowned by a fortified church from the 12th century: Valère basilica.

In 2014 stage 1 of the Tour de Romandie arrived in Sion with Michael Albasini outsprinting the pack, a feat he repeated the next day after the race left from Sion to arrive in Montreux.
