Tour de Romandie 2015
The 69th Tour de Romandie started April 28 to finish May 3. Michael Albasini won two stages, but Ilnur Zakarin was the big man in terms of GC. After a strong Queen Stage he catapulted himself into the lead and with a strong performance in the closing time trial the 25-year old Russian won the overall. Simon Spilak was second en Chris Froome third.

Martin wins ITT, Zakarin takes GC
It all boils down to the ITT in Lausanne. Tony Martin is strongest in his favourite discipline, with Simon Spilak second and Ilnur Zakarin third. This means Zakarin wins the overall with Spilak runner-up. Chris Froome completes the podium after a disappointing performance in the time trial. That said, he outperforms both his Tour de France rivals Quintana and Nibali.Read more »
Pinot takes Queen Stage, Zakarin leader
Stage 5 is the Queen Stage in which riders face four 1st category cols. It all boils down to a battle at the last climb with Pinot attacking and soloing to victory. Zakarin finishes second and is the new leader. By the way, the first Froome-Quintana-Nibali showdown of the season is lost by the latter, while the Froome-Quintana duel is undecided. Young Stefan Küng wins 4th stage
En route to Fribourg the riders crest three cols and it's with 25 kilometres left young Stefan Küng leaves the front group to solo to victory. His fellow escapees Jan Bakelants and Bert-Jan Lindeman are second and third. Küng's compatriot Michael Albasini retains the overall lead.Read more »

After a hilly stage the last climb is crested with 25 km's left. A long drop to the finish line and then the sprint is won by Michael Albasini. Not only his second win in a row, as he won three stages in 2014 this makes the Swiss a five time stage-winner in the last nine stages in Romandie.Read more »
Albasini takes stage and leader's jersey
Stage 2 in the Tour de Romandie features four climbs and a 15 km's drop after the last top. The race explodes just after leader Geraint Thomas puntured at the closing climb. He can't make it back when a group of favourites takes control. After a furious drop it all boils down to a bunch sprint and home-rider Michael Albasini is fastest.
