Ruta del Sol 2017 Route stage 3: Lucena – Lucena

Friday, 17 February 2017 - At 11.9 kilometres, stage 3 in the Ruta del Sol is an individual time trial. The race is played out in Lucena, located at the very center of Andalusia.

Lucena is a regular host of the Ruta del Sol. Two years ago stage 2 finished in the town at the center of Andalucia. The race boiled down to a bunch sprint with Juan José Lobato besting John Degenkolb.

The ITT opens with a short climb at 5% before the route continues on gently rolling roads. The intermediate time check is after kilometre 5.9.

Last edition's ITT was played out on a much longer and hillier parcours. At 21 kilometres, the route took in quite a number of hills, which suited Tejay van Garderen just fine and he took the win.
