World Cycling Championships 2025: Route Mixed relay

World Championships TTWednesday, 24 September - The World Championships mixed relay will be contested on a 42.4-kilometre course with 740 metres of elevation gain. The men and women complete an identical 21.2-kilometre lap.

Both the start and finish are located near the Convention Centre in Kigali. The men begin the race on a gently rolling section of 6.9 kilometres. Then comes the Côte de Nyanza, a 2.5-kilometre climb with an average gradient of 5.8%. Unlike in the individual time trials, the turning point is at the summit.

So the riders descend on the same road they just climbed before turning left in Kigali and heading towards the uphill cobbles of the Côte de Kimihurura. After the 1.3-kilometre climb at 6.3%, the road flattens out for a few hundred metres before rising again at over 4% in the final 900 metres. That’s the point where the women take over.

As mentioned, the women follow exactly the same course as the men.

The winner succeeds Australia, who claimed the mixed relay world title last year in a a nail-biter of a finale. Germany took second place, just 1 second behind, while the Italian squad had to settle for bronze, finishing 8 seconds adrift.

The first team sets off at 12:00, and last team is expected to finish around 16:30 – both are local times.
