Vuelta 2015 Route stage 21: Alcalá de Henares - Madrid

Vuelta 2015 stage 21Sunday, September 13, 2015 - The 2015 Vuelta is almost done. Last year the race ended with a short time trial in Santiago de Compostela, but now an old tradition is restored with a criterium in Madrid and finish on Paseo de la Cast Elana.

The last stage is a short one – 93.7 kilometres with hardly any elevation.

After 35 kilometres the riders arrive at the 4.8 kilometres round through the city-centre of Madrid. The riders will pass the finish-line twelve times, so the sprinters have ample opportunities to explore the arrival.

Departure City Alcalá de Henares lies 35 kilometres north of Madrid. While it is a small town so, the University and the historic centre are included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Madrid is home to over 3.2 million people, making it – after Berlin and London – the third city of the European Union.
