Valencia is the third city of Spain. The Valencians are addicted to football. But not today. And rightly so.
After leaving Valencia the riders crest Puerto del Oronet (495 metres, 3rd category) after 28.7 kilometres in the saddle. Some minor (uncategorized climbs and a long flat section takes them to the Alto of Desierto de Las Palmas (425 metres, 2nd category). At the top, it’s 17 kilometres to the finish. Should be enough to reel in the escapees – that is, if the gap hasn’t ballooned to uncontrollable proportions.
Or will we see an attack on the climb? Or in the 10 km’s drop after which the last 7 kilometres are flat?
