Race report
Finlay Pickering, Andrew August and Davide Bais feature in the day’s breakaway. The trio opens up a 4-minute lead, and they are caught with 25 kilometres remaining.

After several unsuccessful attacks, Jefferson Alexander Cepeda breaks away in the final part of the Passo Durone. He’s first to reach the summit solo, but his advantage never stretches beyond 15 seconds.

After the Ecuadorian is caught, Mattia Bais jumps clear in the final 8 kilometres. He rides solo ahead of the peloton for several kilometres, but his effort comes to an end with 2 kilometres to go.

Giulio Ciccone powers to a dominant sprint victory ahead of Felix Gall and Paul Seixas, which also earns him the first leader’s jersey.
