The prologue starts in the heart of UNESCO World Heritage site Chaux-de-Fonds. The city where Le Corbusier (architect) and Louis Chevrolet (cars) were born offers riders a spectacular route in the foothills of Pouillerel. The course, featuring a 900 metres climb at 9%, goes past Le Corbusier creations such as the White House and the Turkish Villa.
Located at an altitude of 992 metres in the Jura, Chaux-de-Fonds is a watchmaking metropolis. Being the home of Tag Heuer it is funny the Tour de Romandie opens here with a chrono race as the the majority of the population earns a living with the concept of ‘time’.
In 2014 the Tour de Romandie opened with a prologue in Ascona that was won Michal Kwiatkowski with Rohan Dennis second and Marcel Kittel third.
