For years San Benedetto del Tronto has been ITT territory, and nothing else, but we’ll see a stage in line on Sunday 13 March. The route serves a lumpy first part. The passage in Ripatransone after a 3.6 kilometres climb at 4.9% marks the end of this part.
A 13 kilometres descent takes the riders down to Grottammare and they enter a pan-flat circuit of almost 15 kilometres. The lap is to be repeated five times before an inevitable bunch sprint at the same place where the ITT’s of the recent past used to start.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
