Ruta del Sol 2020 Route stage 2: Sevilla - Iznájar

Ruta del Sol 2020 stage 2Thursday 20 February - The 2nd stage of the Ruta del Sol is the longest race of this edition. The lumpy route of 198.1 kilometres serves an uphill finale in Iznájar.

Sevilla is a regular host of the Ruta del Sol. The capital of Andalucia mostly serves as a start, although three years ago Bryan Coquard sprinted to victory in the town on the banks of the massive river Guadalquivir.

The 2nd stage of the Ruta del Sol, or Vuelta a Andalucia, moves through three southern Spanish provinces: Sevilla, Málaga, and Córdoba. The first part of the route is entirely flat before continuing in undulating fashion.

A sprint is a likely outcome, although the number of riders that are still in the mix in Iznájar is debatable, as the finale runs stiffly uphill. Moreover, the riders crest the Puerto de la Parrilla with 12 kilometres out. The Parilla is 6.4 kilometres long and slopes at 2.4%.

The Ruta del Sol serves an elevation gain of 2,190 metres on the second day of action.
