La Course 2020: The Route
Saturday 29 August - La Course by Le Tour de France, as the race is officially called, takes place on a circuit through the hinterland of the Côte d'Azur. Start and finish are in Nice, while the race is 96 kilometres and features two climbs.
The women race the first part of the route of stage 1 in the Tour de France. After two times the same loop the men make one more big detour through Nice’s hinterland, while the women call it a day with a finish on the Promenade des Anglais.
Both loops in La Course include the climb up Côte de Rimiez. It is 5.8 kilometres long and the average gradient sits at 5.1% before a short descent leads onto a false flat of 7 kilometres that leads all the way to Aspremont.
After Aspremont the route descends into the valley of the Var river. The last 25 kilometres of la Course are as good as flat.
