Departure place San Fior saw the finish of last year’s first stage with Giorgia Bronzini outsprinting the bunch.
The route of the 3rd stage travels on flat roads to San Vendemanio. Two sectors run uphill; the first one quite sharp after some 60 kilometres, while the second is a more gentle slope after almost 70 kilometres. Still, the route is perfect for sprinters.
In the 2016 Giro Rosa there were four sprint stages. Giorgia Bronzini won twice and both Chloe Hosking and Tiffany Cromwell once.
An intermediate sprint at kilometres 46.5 comes with time bonuses of 3, 2 and 1 seconds and the first three riders on the line take 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
