Race report
Marek Rutkiewicz and Eduard-Michael Grosu escape as soon as the flag is dropped and they race to a 2 minutes gain in no time. Bandiera, Malaguti and Marangoni bridge the gap and with five they increase the gap to 5 minutes. There it lingers until the pack opens the chase.
With 15 km’s left the breakaway is reeled in and the race culminates in a bunch sprint with André Greipel fastest. Behind him Colli hits the zoom lens of a careless spectator and hits the tarmac, causing a pile-of riders. Alberto Contador crashes also and seems seriously injured. Hopefully he will recover fast.
