Tour de France 2020 Favourites stage 19: A taste of the Champs-Élysées

The opportunities for fast men to shine are limited this Tour de France, but the last three days come with two chances. First in Champagnole, then on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

On gently rolling roads the riders pedal through the foothills of the Jura Mountains. The route is far from pan-flat, but the fast men have nothing to worry about. If their teams keep the breakaway on a leash the fight for the stage honours will be theirs.

Winning this stage in Champagnole will be the sprinter’s way to pat oneself on the back after having survived in the gruppetto during the grueling mountain stages.

On the other hand, as we are three weeks into the Tour France, another scenario could be on the cards. No rider has fresh legs anymore and tough attackers could try to have it their way.

Ewan and Van Aert both won two sprints so far, while Kristoff and Bennett sprinted to one victory each.
