Vuelta 2018 Stage 12: Geniez wins five-up sprint, Jesús Herrada new leader

The 12th stage of the Vuelta runs on a challenging course to Faro de Estaca de Bares, the northernmost point of Spain. The breakaway stays away during a hard and rainy day in the saddle. Alexandre Geniez pips Dylan van Baarle for the win, while Jesús Herrada moves into the overall lead. The peloton crosses the line more than 11 minutes after the stage winner.

Thursday, 6 September 2018 - At 181.1 kilometres, stage 12 in the Vuelta runs from Mondoñedo to Faro de Estaca de Bares, a lighthouse on the north edge of Spain, overlooking the Atlantic. The finale is pepped up by a string of short climbs and narrow roads, while bad weather and strong winds are predicted during the day. Echelons could be lurking between kilometre 150 and 165.
