The Vuelta opens with a flat TTT in 7.4 kilometres with BMC giving full gas and winning the stage. Because Peter Velits crosses the line first he is the man in the red jersey tomorrow. As recorded times are only counted for the team classification, not for the individual GC, all riders are in the same time after stage 1.
