Tour de France 2018 Stage 10: Julian Alaphilippe wins first mountain race, Greg Van Avermaet attacks to extend GC lead

The 10th stage of the Tour the France travels through the Alps. Maillot jaune Greg Van Avermaet and Julian Alaphilippe are among the early attackers. The Frenchman kicks on the penultimate climb to solo to victory, while Van Avermaet finishes minutes ahead of the GC contenders to distance the big names.

Tuesday, 17 July 2018 - On stage 10 of the Tour the France, the riders face the first day in the high mountains. The Alps form the enchanting backdrop of a 158.5 kilometres long race from Annecy to Le Grand-Bornand. Five intermediate climbs, partly on a steep gravel road, before a 13 kilometres drop leads to a false flat run-in to the line.

The 10th stage on the Tour de France travels over four peaks to conclude with a 15 kilometer descent. Will it be up to a bunch of attackers or are the GC-riders going to battle it out? Two skills are definitely needed if you want to win this stage: climbing and descending.
