Wednesday July 9th, 2014 - In 152.5 kilometres riders head from Ypres to Porte Hainaut and along the way they cross seven cobbled sectors, dangerous and slippery because of the incessant rain. Chris Froom hits the deck two times even before the cobbles and abandons, whilst Lars Boom delivers an incredible performance and takes the stage. Nibali is by far the strongest GC rider and cements his overall lead.

Tour de France 2014 Favourites stage 5: Mini Roubaix with many complexities

One of the most highly anticipated stages of this year's Tour. We've already had a mini Liege-Bastogne-Liege in England, now it's time for a mini Paris-Roubaix. With 13 kilometres of the last 70 made up of cobbled sectors, we welcome the classics men back to the front while the GC men hope and pray to make it through unscathed.

Tour de France 2014: Stage 5 – No climbs but plenty of cobbles

The 5th Tour stage has no climbs, but nine cobbled sections at a total length of 13 kilometres. They are spread over the last 69 kilometres of the 152,5 kilometre stage. Orginally it was nine sectors but due to slippery conditions the organisation skipped two cobbled sectors at the eleventh hour.
