In La Flèche Wallonne 2016 the women face 137 kilometres and eleven hills, while the finish on top of the Wall of Huy. At the penultimate climb, the Cherave, Anna van der Breggen attacks with among others Evelyn Stevens. When the two are left alone at the last climb up the Wall of Huy, Van der Breggen powers away to head for a glorious win. Stevens finishes in second, Guarnier in third.

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 – At 137 kilometres, edition 19 of the women's Fleche Wallonne features 11 hills to finish atop of the insanely steep Wall of Huy. Indicative of the rise of women's cycling: the course is 40 kilometres longer than ten years ago and the amount of climbs almost doubled, yet the speeds are higher these days.

La Flèche Wallonne Femmes 2016: Riders

All top guns in women cycling are lined up at the start of La Fleche Wallonne 2016. The full 2015 podium - Anna van der Breggen, Annemiek van Vleuten and Megan Guarnier - is accompanied by World Champion Elizabeth Armitstead and record holder Marianne Vos, who is a five time winner of the women's Fleche Walonne.
