Amstel Gold Race 2019

Amstel Gold Race 2019The 54th edition of the Amstel Gold Race will be held on Sunday, the 21st of April. With narrow roads, dozens of hills and constant twisting and turning the race opens a trilogy of three Ardennes Classics. Founded in 1966 the Amstel Gold Race is the only Classic in the Netherlands, while their neighbours in Belgium have plenty. For years the Cauberg was the last climb, but this scenario was first altered in 2017 in favour of a finale with Geulhemmerberg and Bemelerberg. (Slideshow route/profile)

Michael Valgren Andersen is title holder. Last edition, the attacked with Roman Kreuziger in the last kilometres of the race. Pre-race favourites Peter Sagan, Alejandro Valverde and Tim Wellens merely looked at each other. The Dane said thank you and bested Kreuziger in a two-up sprint. Lone chaser Enrico Gasparotto finished in third.
