World Cycling Championships 2018 Innsbruck, Austria
Alejandro Valverde won the World Championships road race in Innsbruck ahead of Romain Bardet and Michael Woods. They were the first three riders over the last climb, the steep Höttinger Höll. Tom Dumoulin tracked them down after the descent before the Spaniard won the four-up sprint. Anna van der Breggen took the rainbow jersey in the women's road race almost 4 minutes ahead of runner-up Amanda Spratt. Both Rohan Dennis and Annemiek van Vleuten stormed to commanding ITT victories, while with TTT titles were won by Quick-Step Floors (men) and Canyon//Sram (women).

Anna van der Breggen blows competition away
The World Championships road race for women amounts to 156.2 kilometres and features 2,413 vertical metres. The action is centered around a climb of 7.9 kilometres on a circuit that is ridden three times. Van der Breggen attacks on these slopes with 45 kilometres remaining.
