Vuelta 2020: Results

Primoz Roglic won the 75th edition of the Vuelta a España ahead of Richard Carapaz and Hugh Carthy. It was his second consecutive GC win at the Spanish Grand Tour. The Slovene pepped things further up with four stage wins and the green jersey.

Ackermann wins in Madrid, GC triumph Roglic

Pascal Ackermann sprints to victory in Madrid. The German outguns Sam Bennett and Max Kanter on the line, while Primoz Roglic celebrates in red. The Slovene wins the Spanish Grand Tour for the second consecutive year.

Gaudu solos to victory, Roglic seals GC win

David Gaudu solos to victory at La Covatilla, while Primoz Roglic seals the GC victory. The Slovene holds off an attack by Richard Carapaz in the last 3 kilometres to win the overall 24 seconds ahead of the Ecuadorian. Hugh Carthy finishes in third, 47 second down on the red jersey.

Cort sprints to triumph, Roglic cements lead

Rémi Cavagna is the attacker of the day, but a reduced peloton brings the soloist back with 2 kilometres left. In the ensuing sprint Magnus Cort outguns Primoz Roglic and Dion Smith. The Slovene takes 6 bonus second to cement his lead.

Philipsen sprints to rain-soaked triumph, Roglic retains red

At 230.8 kilometres, the 15th stage of La Vuelta serves a long race with a lot of head wind and an elevation gain of more than 4,000 metres. Surprisingly, the sprinters have it their way in Puebla de Sanabria. Jasper Philipsen outguns Pascal Ackermann in the slightly uphill finish, while Primoz Roglic retains the red jersey.

Wellens outguns Woods, Roglic retains red

Tim Wellens wins the 14th stage from the breakaway. He outguns Michael Woods and Zdenek Stybar in the tricky uphill finale in Ourense. Primoz Roglic stays in the red jersey.
