Vuelta 2017: Results
Chris Froome won the 72nd Vuelta a España ahead of Vincenzo Nibali and Ilnur Zakarin. The Brit was in the lead since the third day of action. With winning the Grand Tour of Spain, Froome completed the Tour de France/Vuelta a España double. Matteo Trentin took most stages, namely four.

The 20th stage of La Vuelta brings the final mountaintop finish. Before tackling the Angliru the riders face the Cobertoria and the Cordal, which leads to a mesmerizing finale. Alberto Contador climbs to victory ahead of Wout Poels and Chris Froome, who wins the Spanish Grand Tour for the first time in his career. In the 19th stage of La Vuelta the riders travel over four peaks to a downhill finish in Gijón. Thomas De Gendt is the best rider of a huge break away. The Flemish rider wins a thrilling finale with a strong power sprint. Chris Froome finishes safely in the bunch to hold on to the red jersey.Read more »
Armée climbs to glory in stage 18, Froome cements overall lead
The 18th stage of La Vuelta offers four climbs in the last 60 kilometres. The race ends with a summit finish at Santo Toribio de Liébana. Attacker Sander Armée solos to victory in the steep last kilometres, while Chris Froome puts time into Vincenzo Nibali to extend his overall lead.Read more »
Denifl takes win at Los Machucos, Froome still in red but loses time to Nibali
The 17th stage of La Vuelta takes in two intermediate climb to finish on the summit of Los Machucos, which is an extremely irregular climb with steepest ramps of up to 26%. Attacker Stefan Denifl climbs to victory on the narrow cow track, despite an impressive chase by Alberto Contador. Chris Froome retains in the overall lead, although Vincenzo Nibali comes closer.Read more »
