Vuelta 2014: Route and stages
The 2014 Vuelta a Espana kicked off in Jerez de la Frontera, in the south of Spain. The caravan remained south for the early stages, but the battlefields for the decisive last week were up north and the race closed with a time trial around Santiago de Compostela. Alberto Contador bested his main rivals Chris Froome and Alejandro Valverde, whilst Nairo Quintana had tot abandon in stage 11.
