Tour of the Basque Country 2015
The 2015 Tour of the Basque Country started April 6 and finished April 11. The race exploded in stage 3 when the super-steep closing climb saw and attack by Henao, Quintana and Rodríguez, with the latter taking the stage. The Purito-party lasted the rest of the week. He won stage 4 also and in the closing time trial he outperformed all of his GC-rivals, which led him to the overall victory.

The Tour of the Basque Country closes with a 18.3 kilometres climbing time trial with super-steep hills. That suits 'anti time trialist' Joaquim Rodríguez, who crushes his opponents and takes the GC. Tom Dumoulin is in a class of his own and wins the stage.Read more »
Landa wins after super-steep finale
Stage 5 in the Tour of the Basque Country is a 155 kilometres ride from Eibar to Aia. Young Belgian Tim Wellens opens fire with an early attack and he is accompanied by 29 riders. Wellens is one of the survivors at the super-steep closing climb, but in the last few hundred metres Mikel Landa is stronger and the Basque rider climbs to the win. Henao retains the GC lead. Simon Yates is brilliant on the closing climb and storms onto the podium. The 22-year old Briton is the new number three, ahead of Quintana.Read more »
Rodríguez again, Henao still leader
Stage 4 leads from Zumurraga to the sanctuary of Arrate. A decimated peloton sprints for the win and it's good old Joaquim Rodríguez being back to his best days and taking the stage. Mollema arrives second, while Sergio Henao retains the overall lead.Read more »
Purito bests Henao and Quintana, Henao new leader
Eleven climbs and eight with a categorization, stage 3 in the Tour of the Basque Country is definitely for the climbers. With 3 kilometres left the Antigua is a super-steep monster and it's there Sergio Henao detonates the fireworks with Rodríguez and Quintana on his wheel. In the streets of Zumarraga Purito outsprints his companions, while Sergio Henao is the new overall leader. Quintana is third in the same time as his compatriot.Read more »
