Race report
Woods, Juul Jensen and Caruso are the first attackers and a big group rejoins them. Mollema, Van Baarle, Gilbert, Kron, Cosnefroy, Kron, Matthews, Powless, Madouas and Pasqualon are on board.

Pogacar strikes on the first climb of the day and the lead group is caught.

The pace remains high and Bonnamour strikes on the second climb. Soler, Martínez, Cosnefroy, Großschartner, Kämna, Konrad, Mühlberger, Geschke, LL Sánchez, Küng, Pinot, Meintjes, Bettiol, Powless, Uran, Kron, Mollema, Simmons, Fuglsang, Neilands, Woods and Matthews bridge across, while Geschke takes most KOM points at the top.

Matthews goes solo with 52 kilometres remaining. Kron, Sánchez and Großschartner regain contact after roughly 10 kilometres. The four crest the Côte de la Fage 25 seconds ahead of Soler. Bettiol, Kämna and Konrad rejoin the Spaniard on descent. Meintjes, Fuglsang, Pinot, Martínez and Uran regain contact later.

Meanwhile, Kron is dropped from the lead group after a puncture. He joins Mühlberger, Geschke and Simmons to make it back into the first chase group. Woods and Mollema close the gap just before the Côte de la Croix Neuve.

Matthews drops his companions on the climb. Bettiol tracks down the Australian 1.3 kilometres before the summit. He overhauls him, but Matthews bounces back to reach the summit with a lead of a few seconds before he powers on to solo to victory.

The GC group arrives approximately 14 minutes after the leaders at the base of the Côte de la Croix Neuve. Pogacar strikes with Vingegaard in his wheel. The other GC riders are dropped and the two put tens of seconds into their rivals. Vingegaard keeps yellow.
