Ruta del Sol 2018
Tim Wellens won the 2018 edition of the Ruta del Sol ahead of Wout Poels and Marc Soler. The Flemish rider climbed to victory on the cobbled last ascent of the 4th stage, which proved to be decisive for his overall win. The 64th Ruta del Sol - a.k.a. Vuelta a Andalucia - was played out from 14 February to 18 February.

De la Cruz wins time trial, overall victory goes to Tim Wellens
The final stage of the Ruta del Sol is a 14.2 kilometres individual time trial with a 5 kilometres section on dirt roads. David de la Cruz powers to the stage win, while leader Tim Wellens is flying, too. The Flemish rider takes the overall victory ahead of Wout Poels and Marc Soler.Read more »
Wellens bests Landa at steep cobbled climb to take lead
At almost 200 kilometres, stage 4 at the Ruta del Sol travels from Seville to Alcalá de los Gazules. The race ends at a punchy ascent with stretches of pavé and steepest ramps of 18%. Landa and Wellens attack shortly after the base of the climb, while the Flemish riders goes alone on the cobbles to the line, thus taking the stage win and the GC-lead.Read more »
Modolo sprints to victory, Poels still leading
The 3rd stage at the Ruta del Sol runs on rolling roads from Mancha Real to Herrera. It comes down to a bunch sprint with Sacha Modolo powering to the wind. Wout Poels retains in the overall lead.Read more »
Wout Poels wins at steep hill to take overall lead
Stage 2 leads to a summit finish at Alto de Allanadas, a double digits climb with its steepest ramps before the summit. That's where the race ignites. Wout Poels attacks from a select group with 50 metres left to power to the stage win and leader's jersey. Luis León Sánchez and Tim Wellens are 2 seconds down on him.Read more »
Sprint victory and leader's jersey for Thomas Boudat in Granada
At almost 200 kilometres, stage 1 in the Ruta del Sol travels from Mijas to Granada. Although the route takes in a number of intermediate climb the race comes down do a bunch sprint with Thomas Boudat turning out on top, although it was an excruciatingly close photo-finish with Sacha Modolo second. Boudat is the first overall leader.Read more »
