Giro 2021: Lafay wins from the breakaway, Valter stays in pink

Race report
After a furious fight for the break Gougeard, Carboni, Lafay, Gavazzi, Goossens, Oliveira, Arndt and Gaviria join forces, while Campenaerts tracks the eight down. The lead group puts more than 7 minutes into the peloton.
Campenaerts and Carboni jump clear with 7 kilometres remaining before the Italian goes solo in the last 3 kilometres. Lafay tracks him down and overhauls him.
The 25 year old Frenchman solos to triumph, finishing almost 5 minutes ahead of the main group. Valter keeps the maglia rosa ahead of Evenepoel and Bernal.
