Biniam Girmay won the 84th edition of Gent-Wevelgem in a four-up sprint. The Eritrean bested Christophe Laporte, Dries Van Gestel and Jasper Stuyven on the line. The race took place on Sunday 27 March 2022.

Girmay wins four-up sprint

Christophe Laporte, Jasper Stuyven, Biniam Girmay and Dries Van Gestel attack inside the last 25 kilometres. The four hold off the chasing peloton before Girmay outguns Laporte and Van Gestel on the line.

Sunday 27 March - Gent-Wevelgem serves its traditional mix of cobbles, unpaved roads and 'hellingen' on a route that adds up to almost 250 kilometres. The race usually comes down to an intriguing game of cat and mouse between leaders and chasers in the flat finale.
